Is there anything that says “I love you” more than baking or cooking for someone? My mother taught me this from a young age. Come and catch a glimpse of some things that I hope you can smell through your screen.
Whatever you bake, make sure you always add the most ingredient: love.
Choux Pastry (profiteroles) - I made these Choux pastry with my childhood friend after finding out that it is one of the hardest desserts to successfully make. Although the consistency was not perfect, it tasted pretty good for the first time, and my friend and I had a very fun time baking and eating these!
Avocado Toast - I love making avocado toast as it comes in varieties of option and also since you get to personalize it based on your preferences. In my toast, I added a seasoning that includes sesame seeds, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, oregano, and lemon zest. Then I added a poached egg, and drizzled some honey. It was my first time making poached eggs and so one came out successfully, but the second one did not turn out very well
Vanilla Banana Custard Birthday Cake - This is the first time I have ever baked and decorated a cake, but I took a risk and made one for my mom's birthday. I made a vanilla cake with custard and banana filling, and although the end product was pretty tasty, the process was extremely difficult. First of all, we only have a toaster oven in our house leading me to make a much smaller cake. Secondly, I did not have the proper tools and materials for baking and decorating a cake. Still, I think it's the thought that counts and overall it was still tasty!
Salted Caramel Macaron - This was my first time making macarons after looking at many different recipes. I was hesitant to make this dessert because of its complexity, but after finding enough courage to try, I believe it turned out successfully even if there were some flaws with the consistency of the macaron shell.
Basque Cheesecake - I made these cheesecake for my brother when he came back from America. I made 1 normal one and 1 matcha flavored
Banana Custard Tart - When my dad and I first attempted to try out this dessert, we could not get it to be exactly how we wanted, but after he left to go back to Japan, I tried again fixing some parts and made it successfully
Cheese Garlic Bread - I made this for my brother and my mom because they both love garlic bread but never had a freshly baked one :)
Banana Crepe Cake - I made this cake with my mom, and it was nice to have a bonding session and catching up with her
Seafood Pasta - I made pasta from scratch for my mom's birthday, considering that because of the pandemic, we could not go out to eat. It turned out successfully, and I'm so glad my mom loved the food
Christmas Sugar Cookies - I made and decorated these Christmas sugar cookies with my mom, and on Christmas day, we went to my grandparents' house and gifted them these cookies. They loved the cookies and how they were decorated
Mango Hibiscus Lemonade - I made this drink by brewing some hibiscus then mixing some lemon and mango juice. My family loves this drink, and my brother and I drink this every weekend while watching TV together
Cinnamon Rolls - This was one of the recipes I was the most proud about as it took quite a long time, but I decided to make these cinnamon rolls because it reminded me of my childhood summer vacations in Canada where I, my mom, and my brother would eat these all the time!
Fudge Brownies - This brownie is made with chocolate, butter, instant coffee, brown sugar, flour, vanilla, cocoa powder, eggs, and vanilla extract
Mini Apple Pies - I've always wanted to make apply pies, but I was never able to considering that in our house, we only have a toaster oven
Strawberry Lemonade - I made this drink by making fresh lemonade and mixing it together with strawberry puree
Banana Tart - This is a dessert I made with my dad, and it was the first attempt for both of us. We had a fun time learning as we go and figuring out the steps, but unfortunately made some mistakes. Although there might have been some missteps, we figured out what we did wrong, and had a fun bonding time together
Meringue Cookies - This was the first time I made meringue cookies, and I used brown sugar and vanilla!
Chocolate Fondant - When I was younger, and even now, one of my favorite desserts ever was chocolate fondant. I would order it wherever we go, and so I decided to try making one myself
